June 26, 2009 – November 20, 2009

Opening Reception:  June 26, 2009    5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

“Beyond Painting” is an exhibition that will engage the public in the process of art making, the installation of it and the relationship to the space it occupies.

Through the works of Luisa Mesa, Venessa Monokian and Hector Nieblas the multi-disciplinary elements in their works is the common thread between them even though each of the artists has their own “voice and vocabulary”.

The use of video art, music, photo-based art, art objects, wall art and installations make this exhibition at the edge of what is happening in today’s art.

Highlands Museum of the Arts (MOTA) believes in the cultural enrichment of the community through exhibitions such as this one and others to come. Museum Director, Debbie Kendrick, believes this “design experience” will enhance the public’s certainty about the purpose of art.
